Thanks to some friends living there I’ve found myself in Rotterdam a few times and always enjoyed it. Being a port city you are always going to see lots of boats of all shapes and sizes. It’s fascinating watching them go by particularly with the water taxis zipping around between the larger ships.

The city is full of interesting architecture but one of the most interesting and unique places is the Cube Houses.

That red bridge shows up a lot but it’s not actually the most prominent bridge in Rotterdam. That honour goes to the Erasmusbrug. A very impressive bridge that spans the main river and includes a section that lifts up for boats to pass under. We stayed in the impressive nHow hotel when there which sits beside the Erasmusbrug. It looks like a number of separate towers all pieced together to make the one building. It’s quite impressive.

There’s quite an industrial feel throughout the city and an interesting mix of old and new. I could spend a lot more time there and not get bored simply exploring the city.
